Winnipeg Police initiated an interprovincial investigation into an illegal drug trafficking network in May 2020.
The investigation determined that the primary activities of the organized crime group involved the transportation of cocaine from Vancouver, British Columbia through Calgary, Alberta and Regina Saskatchewan on to Winnipeg.
With help from RCMP in Surrey, Regina Police Service, Calgary Police Service and the Vancouver Police Department, police were able to make a number of arrests across Western Canada in connection to the investigation.
On June 18 Regina Police raided two residences in that city along with executing search warrants for three vehicles and a storage locker.
Regina Police seized currency, substances believed to be cocaine, MDMA, psilocybin, drug paraphernalia, and brass knuckles.
Two men and one woman from Regina were taken into custody and charged with a number of drug, weapon and property offences.
On the same day Surrey RCMP executed a search warrant and seized cocaine press, 25 kilos of Phenacetin (cutting agent) $100,000 in cash, hundreds of packaged cannabis products, 10 pounds of cannabis and body armour. This portion of the investigation is ongoing.
Winnipeg Police Guns and Gangs Unit arrested a male associated with the investigation in Manitoba. The Vancouver male was charged with drug and property related offences.
As Winnipeg Police were searching the 2018 Nissan Murano that the accused was driving they discovered that the key fob opened a hidden compartment in the bumper.
Inside the hidden compartment investigators found Three kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated street value of $270,000 and $176,000 in Canadian currency bundled in proceeds of crime fashion.
