Southdale Walmart employee tests positive last week, No new cases Tuesday

No new case of COVID-19 has been identified in Manitoba on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases remains at 290.

One person is currently being treated in hospital for the virus. No one is in intensive care.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Manitoba remains at Seven.

257 people have recovered from the virus with 26 cases still listed as active.

379 tests for COVID-19 were performed on Monday, May 18, 2020, bringing the total number of tests performed since early February to 35,578.

Chief provincial public health officer, Dr Brent Roussin said that the one case of COVID-19 that was reported on Monday, May 18, 2020, was a person who was working at Southdale Walmart. The employee was working on the floor of the store on Saturday, May 9, 2020, between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm

Roussin said that the possibility of transmission from that person is considered low but if anyone was in the store at that time and are symptomatic they should get tested.
