Two victims suffer serious head injuries after hammer attack

A 28-year-old male is in custody after two men were attacked with a hammer near the Millenium Library on Saturday afternoon, May 2, 2020.

Police say that officers on foot patrol near Portage Avenue and Donald Street were told of an attack just after 3:10 pm and as they were making their way to Donald Street and Graham Avenue they came across a second victim.

Investigators say that a male in his 50s and a second male in his 60s suffered severe head injuries in the unprovoked attack. Both men were taken to hospital one in unstable condition the other in critical condition.

Neither victim knew the attacker.

Police searched the area and located the suspect a few blocks away at Edmonton Street and Graham Avenue.

Eric Michael Robert OkSasikewiyin has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon (x2) and Mischief Under $5,000.

He was detained in custody.
