COVID-19 claims another life, 15 new cases identified

Manitoba Public Health announced on Friday April 3, 2020 that they have identified 15 news cases of COVID-19 in the province bringing the total to 182.

The virus has claimed another life bringing the total number of deaths to two

Nine people are hospitalized of which six are being treated in intensive care.

11 people are listed as recovered.

Cadham Provincial Laboratory performed 634 tests on Thursday April 2, 2020 bring the total to 11,952.

Chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin continues to urge people to stay home especially if they feel sick.

Travel, including within Manitoba, should be limited to essential trips only. Manitobans should not be travelling to cottages or seasonal homes. Smaller health centres could be strained if seasonal visitors become ill

Donations of needed medical supplies have started come in. Eight Manitoba companies have donated 2,570 N95 masks, 3,110 surgical and procedure masks, 9,300 gloves and 202 bottles of hand sanitizer. The province is still looking for donations of:

  • N95 respirators of various models and sizes, both hospital and industrial grade;
  • surgical/procedure masks;
  • gloves;
  • disposable gowns and
  • disinfectants and cleaners.

The provincial government has postponed the remaining dates for making campground reservations. Existing campground, group-use and yurt reservations are still valid but may be cancelled depending on the situation. More information is available at www.gov.mb.ca/sd/parks

Any person concerned about their exposure to or risk of having COVID-19 should call Health Links–Info Santé at 204-788-8200 or (toll-free) at 1-888-315-9257 to be screened to see if a test is required.
