One dead, two injured in a head-on collision on Highway 11

RCMP are investigating the cause of a head-on collision that claimed one life and caused serious injuries to two other males.

Police say that around 5:40 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020, they were called to the collision on Highway 11 about four kilometres east of Highway 59.

Initial indications were that a car travelling westbound collided with an eastbound truck. The 19-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. His 16-year-old passenger and the 65-year-old driver of the truck suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Investigators say the two males in the car were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Police do not believe alcohol played a factor in the collision.

Conditions at the time of the collision were poor and the roads were icy.

The investigation continues.
