Home under renovation suffers significant fire, water and smoke damage

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a blaze in a vacant once-and-a-half storey home on Roseberry Street Monday night, January 13, 2020.

Crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure as they arrived just after 8:15 pm.

The home was under renovations at the time of the fire providing crews with questions about the integrity of the building along with safety issued.

A defensive attacked was launched from the outside until some of the flames could be knocked down.

Once it was safe to do so firefighters entered the structure and transitioned to an offensive attack.

2:45 minutes after it was reported the fire was declared under control. The house suffered significant damage due to flames, smoke and the water used to put out the blaze,

Firefighters did not find anyone inside the home and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
