Floodway gates lowered after month of diverting river

The Red River Floodway gates have been lowered allowing the Red River to take its natural course says the Manitoba Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre.

Since October 9th the floodway has been in operation due to higher than normal water levels

The province says that water levels continue to drop at James Avenue and they expect it to be around 14 feet at river freeze-up.

The province says that the Red River continues to be higher than normal for this time of year and may cause ice-related flooding along its path.
