Brandon man arrested after assault, robbery and attempting to smash out police car windows

A 39-year-old Brandon man is facing a number of charges after allegedly being involved in an assault and robbery in Russell, Manitoba.

Russell is about 350 kilometres west of Winnipeg.

RCMP say that on June 24, 2019 they received a report of an assault and robbery in the small community.

When officers arrived the victim, a 56-year-old-male told them that the suspect had assaulted, threatened and stole from him.

The suspect returned to the scene while police were still there and tried to break the windows of their patrol unit. As the officers tried to place the man under arrest be became combative forcing the officers to use a taser to bring him under control

RCMP say that wile the suspect was in custody a the Russell Detachment he damaged the cell block area.

Michael Man has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery, Assaulting a Police Officer, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Mischief.

He was detained in custody.
