Brandon Police say 9th Street shooting not random

Brandon Police investigating an early morning shooting Wednesday, May 5, 2019.

Police say they were called to a home in the 1000 block of 9th Street minutes before 4:00 am.

When officers arrived they found a 34-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to hospital in Brandon with serious but non-life threatening injuries but was then transported to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg for further treatment.

A number of people inside the residence were questioned by investigators from Brandon Police Service Major Crimes Unit.

Police say they don’t believe the shooting was random.

Officers searched the residence and uncovered two weapons along with 1 oz of Meth.

A 33-year-old male was arrested and charged with drug and weapons offences for his alleged involvement

The investigation into the shooting continues.
