Canada Day Weekend – What’s open, What’s closed, What’ s happening

Canada Day is quickly coming up and that means there will be lots to do and things you won’t be able to do. With the holiday falling on a Sunday this year it also means there will be closures and reduced hours on Monday, July 2, 2018, as well.

There will be large celebrations at both the Forks and Assiniboine park as usual and fun for the whole family can be had in either location.

What’s happening

At the Forks there will be live music, dancing under the canopy, kids activities throughout the day. Beginning at 7:00 pm the Festival stage will keep you entertained right up until 11:00 pm when the fireworks display is set to cap off the night.

Although there will be lots to do at Assiniboine Park on Canada Day this year there will not be any fireworks lighting up the Tuxedo sky. There will be entertainment at the Lyric Theatre between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm including a Citizenship Ceremony where you can help welcome new Canadians. Kids favourite Al Simmonds will perform at 1:00 pm followed by three hours of programming from Folklorama.

Osborne Village will also be hosting their annual street party featuring two days of festivities on Saturday, June 30 and Canada Day July 1. There will be the main stage featuring amazing local talent, a kids zone, marketplace and extended patios.
