Two youth are facing a number of charges after the pair allegedly initiated a carjacking in the 1600 block of Roy Avenue on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

Police say a woman had returned to her home around 10:00 pm and was getting out of her vehicle when she was approached by two young girls. One of the suspects hit the woman over the head with a bottle as they tried to steal her vehicle.

The victim’s neighbour had witnessed the incident and came outside to help her. The suspects threatened the neighbour and both the neighbour and the victim backed away to a safe area.

At this point, the suspects then stole the neighbour’s vehicle. The neighbour’s fiancé tried to stop the theft but was dragged by the vehicle roughly 15 feet before letting go.

The stolen vehicle then collided with several vehicles in the Weston area before police were able to locate it around Logan and Arlington. Officers trailed the vehicle to Sinclair and Magnus where they attempted to get it to stop. The stolen vehicle took off and officers gave chase.

Police say the vehicle then entered a parking lot in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street and hit a couple of curbs before slamming into a parked vehicle.

Officers took both suspects into custody. They were taken to hospital due to injuries they received during the crash, were treated then released.

A 14-year-old female youth is facing two counts of Robbery, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, Driving While Ability Impaired, Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, Fail to Comply with Sentence and Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice (x4)

The other suspect, a 16-year-old female has been charged with Robbery (x2) and Fail to Comply with Sentence

They were detained in custody.
