Assault and weapon charges laid against 21-year-old in Nairn Ave assaults

Police have charged a 21-year-old male with a number of assault and weapon charges after two men were seriously assaulted in the 400 block of Nairn Avenue on Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Police say that just before 1:30 pm they received a call about two men being assaulted. One of the men was suffering injuries to his upper body. He was taken to hospital, treated, then released. The second male had injuries to the midsection. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and has now been upgraded to stable condition.

Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged Aaron Kenley Sutherland, 21, from Winnipeg for his alleged involvement. He is facing charges of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Uttering Threats X2, three counts of possess weapon and four counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

He has been detained in custody.
