The Winnipeg Police Service successfully recovered a stolen vehicle and apprehended a suspect in possession of a loaded firearm.

On August 23, 2024, a vehicle was reported stolen from Gareau Street. Six days later, on August 29, at approximately 2:00 p.m., General Patrol officers from the East District responded to a call about the stolen vehicle parked on Moncton Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the vehicle matched the description of the stolen car. They found a lone occupant, identified as 19-year-old Succes Musaka from Winnipeg, sitting in the driver’s seat. Musaka was taken into custody without incident. During the search, officers discovered a loaded sawed-off shotgun inside the vehicle.

Musaka has been charged with several offences, including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
