Armed Robbery Suspects Apprehended After High-Speed Chase

Two male suspects were apprehended following an armed robbery and high-speed chase in Winnipeg’s West End.

The incident began in the late afternoon of July 26, 2024, when the suspects, driving a Jeep Trailhawk with stolen license plates, arrived in the 300 block of Furby Street. Exiting their vehicle with weapons and concealing their identities, they robbed an adult male and female of cash and cigarettes. The suspects then fled the scene in the Jeep, prompting a swift response from the Winnipeg Police Service.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., North District General Patrol officers located the vehicle and suspects near Isabel Street and Logan Avenue. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle safely, the suspects fled once again. With the assistance of the Canine Unit and Traffic Division, officers pursued the suspects, who eventually abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot in the 900 block of Palmerston Avenue. They were subsequently taken into custody.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. The suspects have been identified as Colin Love Groves, 37, and Sage Albert Young, 33. Groves faces multiple charges for his alleged involvement, including two counts of robbery, possession of a weapon, disguise with intent, flight while pursued by a peace officer, and failure to comply with a condition of release order. Young has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of robbery, possession of a weapon, and disguise with intent.

Both suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.
