Group of Teens Assault and Rob 19-Year-Old in Winnipeg, Four Arrested

A 19-year-old man was assaulted and robbed by a group of teenagers on Besant Street, Winnipeg, on the evening of June 16, 2024. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m., prompting a response from General Patrol officers, assisted by the Tactical Support and K9 Units.

The victim reported being followed off a bus by five individuals at Munroe Avenue and Besant Street. The group confronted him at knifepoint, assaulted him, and stole his belongings. They recorded a video of the incident before fleeing the scene. Despite the assault, the victim declined medical attention.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and identified five suspects. It appears there may have been some familiarity between the victim and some of the suspects, but the incident is believed to be a crime of opportunity.

Between June 16-18, police arrested four individuals who are now facing charges and were released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code:

  • A 17-year-old female (Robbery, Possess Weapon)
  • An 18-year-old female (Robbery, Possess Weapon, Breach of Recognizance x 2)
  • Another 18-year-old female (Robbery)
  • A 17-year-old male (Robbery)

A warrant has been issued for another 17-year-old male.
