95% OF VOLUNTARY BUYOUT TARGET REACHED BY MANITOBA HYDRO

Manitoba Hydro says that it is happy with the results of a workforce reduction plan that would reduce it’s staffing levels by 900 people.

In February Hydro announced that it would be offering voluntary buyouts as part of it’s restructuring plan

To date 857 employees applied to leave the corporation under the plan but only 818 have been approved.

Hydro says that some of those who applied were rejected because there needs to be appropriate staffing levels in order for them to manage their on-going operations.

Close to one third of those who are approved for the buyouts will be leaving the crown corporation by the end of June of 2017 and the rest will be gone by the end of 2018.
