90 new cases of COVID-19 and seven deaths reported Sunday

90 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Seven deaths were reported today due to the virus but public health officials say those deaths happened between November 2020 and March 2021. Officials say they only learned of the deaths this month.

The person who died has been identified as:

  • a female in her 60s from the Northern health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Northern health region;
  • a female in her 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently five per cent provincially and 3.6 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 33,353.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • zero cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 32 cases in the Northern health region;
  • nine cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • eight cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 41 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,185 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 31,241 people listed as recovered.

135 people are being treated in the hospital of which 57 are considered infectious. 22 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 10 of them still considered infectious.

The total number of confirmed variant of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 63 and B.1.351 is 13, bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 76.

927 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,718 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 563,190 tests completed.
