77 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. No deaths were reported today due to the virus.
The five-day test positivity rate is currently 4.3 per cent provincially and 3.5 per cent in Winnipeg.
The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 34,052.
Today’s cases are from the following health regions:
- one case in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
- 27 cases in the Northern health region;
- one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
- five cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
- 43 cases in the Winnipeg health region.
There are currently 1,197 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 31,921 people listed as recovered.
150 people are being treated in the hospital of which 64 are considered infectious. 31 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 13 of them still considered infectious.
Public health officials say that there are 11 new screened and sequenced variants of concern cases today. One is from the Interlake-Eastern health region, three from the Southern health region and seven from the Winnipeg health region.
The total number of confirmed variant of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 199 and B.1.351 is 14. 37 variant of concern cases have not been categorized bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 250. According to public health officials, the data they provided on Monday regarding variants of concern breakdown and totals was incorrect due to a data processing error. The data issued today has been corrected to reflect the actual totals.
934 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.
1,163 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 580,442 tests completed.
