71 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. One death was reported today due to the virus.
The person who died has been identified as:
- a male in his 80s from Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Grace Hospital unit 3 South.
The five-day test positivity rate is currently 3.8 per cent provincially and 3.3 per cent in Winnipeg.
The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 34,122.
Today’s cases are from the following health regions:
- two cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
- 24 cases in the Northern health region;
- two cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
- five cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
- 38 cases in the Winnipeg health region.
There are currently 1,181 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 32,006 people listed as recovered.
146 people are being treated in the hospital of which 63 are considered infectious. 28 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 12 of them still considered infectious.
Public health officials say that there are 17 new screened and sequenced variants of concern cases today. Four from the Southern health region and 13 from the Winnipeg health region.
The total number of confirmed variant of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 232 and B.1.351 is 20. 15 variants of concern cases have not been categorized bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 267.
935 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.
2,251 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 582,697 tests completed.
