71 new cases of COVID-19 and on additional death reported Saturday

71 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Five cases have been removed due to data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 66. One additional death was reported due to the virus.

The person who died from COVID-19 is identified as:

  • a female in her 20s from the Winnipeg health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 3.1 per cent provincially and 2.2 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 32,170.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • three cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 45 cases in the Northern health region;
  • zero case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • five cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 18 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,114 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 30,151 people listed as recovered.

158 people are being treated in the hospital of which 46 are considered infectious. 29 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with nine of them still considered infectious.

The total number of cases related to variants of concern is nine (6 – B.1.1.7, 3 – B.1.351)

905 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,670 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 535,692 tests completed.
