A 70-year-old woman has died after falling through the ice on Lake Winnipegosis, according to the Winnipegosis RCMP.
On March 20, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., RCMP received a report that the woman had possibly fallen through the ice. It is believed that the woman had gone for her usual walk with her two dogs and failed to return home.
A family member who went to search for her found one of the dogs sitting on the ice.
Winnipegosis RCMP, along with the local fire department, responded to the scene and began a search of the area, which contained sections of open water. The woman was eventually located under the ice and recovered.
She was transported to Dauphin hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The Winnipegosis RCMP are continuing their investigation into the incident. Authorities are urging residents to exercise extreme caution around bodies of water, as ice conditions can be unpredictable, especially during periods of thawing.
