Store closes May 20, 2017
Price Chopper is closing. That’s the news from parent company North West.
60 staff members have been given their layoff notices and the doors will be locked effective May 20, 2017.
North West says that they have been running the operation at a loss since acquiring it in 2014 from Sobey’s.
Replacing the Price Chopper will be a Giant Tiger set to open in 2018
Price Chopper has been a fixture between Harrow and Stafford on Pembina for more than two decades. The store has always been known as a discount grocery and offered large discounts compared to competitors.
The job losses at Price Chopper come on the heals of major cutbacks across government and private companies.
