Fire crews responded to what proved to be a difficult blaze in Elmwood Friday morning.
It started around 5:30am in the 500 block of Jamison Avenue.
When crews arrived they found the home full of smoke. Fire fighters attacked the fire on the first floor but were forced to pull out when it became unsafe as the fire spread to the attic.
Flames were shooting out of the roof at one point and it took crews over an hour to extinguish the the fire.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
