5,485 active cases of COVID-19 as Manitoba removes restrictions

Manitoba has reported 111 new cases of COVID-19 today along with six additional deaths reported. The total number of deaths due to the virus is 1,716.

Hospitalizations are currently 414 people being treated for COVID-19 including 20 receiving treatment in ICU.

The provincial test positivity rate is at 15.6 per cent.

There are currently 5,485 active cases in Manitoba.

As of 12:01 am on Tuesday, Manitoba is removing the mask-wearing mandate in public places. Masks will still be required in health-care facilities.

“We will continue to provide public health recommendations and guidance on COVID-19, but now Manitobans are empowered to make their own decisions about what is right for themselves and their families,” said Dr. Brent Roussin, chief provincial public health officer.

Also as of Tuesday orders restricting travel to northern Manitoba will end.

People who test positive for COVID-19 will no longer be required to isolate but public health does recommend that people with symptoms stay home and isolate for five days after symptoms start until they no longer have a fever and other symptoms have improved.
