$5 million earmarked for program to help dine-in restaurants

The Manitoba government will be giving the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce $5 million to develop a program that gives dine-in restaurants affected by the current COVID-19 restrictions financial help.

The program known as the Dine-in Restaurant Relief Program is designed to provide a rebate to dine-in restaurants that shifted to a delivery model due to the public health restrictions. The rebate will help offset the costs related to food delivery services.

“Manitoba’s restaurant community has made significant sacrifices in order to help halt the spread of this deadly virus and protect all Manitobans during this crucial time in our fight against COVID-19,” said Premier Brain Pallister. “Many businesses have taken on additional costs to adapt their operations to comply with public health orders and safely provide Manitobans with the services they rely on while supporting their efforts to stay home.”

How much restaurants can apply for or how the program will work have yet to be released.
