As News 4 reported previously, on July 16th, 2016 at approximately 4:15 am, emergency personnel responded to a fire in a single-family residence within the 500 block of Young Street.
FIRE | FOUR ESCAPE FROM BLAZE ON YOUNG STREET
Two adults, a male and female, were transported to hospital in stable condition. Two males, an adult and a youth were treated and released.
The Winnipeg Police Service’s Arson Unit and the Office of the Fire Commissioner have determined the fire to be arson. Damage has been estimated at $105,000. The investigation is continuing at this time.

As the investigation was being conducted into the cause of the fire observations by police officers, as well as Winnipeg Fire & Paramedic Service personnel, led police to enter into a separate investigation relating to weapons and drugs.
As a result of that investigation an adult female and two male youths were arrested on July 17, 2016 for their alleged involvement.
Shania Keyauna Thompson, a 20-year-old female from Winnipeg, has been charged with:
– 11 weapons & firearms related offences
– Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
A 17-year-old male from Stony Mountain has been charged with:
– 11 weapons & firearms related offences.
– Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
A 16-youth old male from Winnipeg has been charged with:
– 11 weapons & firearms related offences
– Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
All three were detained in custody.
On August 4th, 2016, a fourth suspect was arrested and charged as part of this on-going investigation.
Justin Cameron Kirstein, a 25-year-old male from Winnipeg, has been charged with:
– 26 weapons & firearms related offences
– Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
Kirstein was detained in custody.
