Winnipeg Police Service has charged a 44-yea-old man in connection to a stabbing early Friday morning, January 19, 2024.
According to police, officers responded around 1:30 am to a Harbison Avenue address in the 300 block after receiving a report that a male had been stabbed.
When police arrived they found a 33-year-old man suffering from upper body injuries sustained during the stabbing. The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition but was soon upgraded to stable.
Investigators learned that the suspect went to the victim’s home and pointed a gun at the victim when he opened the door. The victim disarmed the suspect of the gun but the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.
A police dog was able to track the suspect to the 300 block of Washington Avenue where he was placed into custody. The firearm was located nearby and seized as evidence. Police believe the weapon had been discarded by the suspect as he fled.
Police say that the victim and suspect are known to each other through gang affiliations
44-year-old Rashawn Riel McManaman was charged for his alleged involvement with a number of weapons and firearms-related offences.
He was detained in custody.
