43rd death and 135 new cases of COVID-19 identified

Manitoba Public Health announced there were 135 new cases of the virus today. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 3,626.

Public health reported that a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg Health Region is the 43rd death in Manitoba related to the virus. This death is related to an outbreak at Parkview Place personal care home say officials

The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba is 4.8 per cent.

17 cases in the Interlake-Eastern Health Region, 12 cases in the Southern Health Region, four cases in the Northern Health Region and 102 cases in the Winnipeg Health Region.

38 people are currently in hospital with six people being treated in intensive care as of Tuesday. (public health is having a technical issue with data regarding hospitalizations and ICUs – updated data will be posted as soon as it is available)

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 43.

There are currently 1,774 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, 1,809 people are listed as recovered.

1,861 laboratory tests were completed yesterday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 230,641.

Earlier today the province announced that they have increased fines and are stepping up enforcement for those ignoring public health and emergency orders.

Public health is continuing to advise Winnipeg residents and visitors to the city to stay home if sick, wash your hands, cover your cough and physically distance when you are with people outside your household. If you cannot physically distance, you should wear a mask to help reduce your risk. Reduce the number of close contacts outside your household, and avoid closed-in or crowded spaces. 

Officials advise that only people showing symptoms of COVID-19 should go for testing. If you do have symptoms you should seek testing as soon as possible once symptoms appear.
