3RD PERSON GRANTED RIGHT TO DOCTOR-ASSISTED DEATH IN MANITOBA

The Court of Queen’s Bench has ruled that a woman with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has the right to have a doctor-assisted death. Associate Chief Justice Shane Perlmutter said the woman met the criteria for physician-assisted death.

In March and again in early May the Court granted the same right to two other applicants.

It is expected that federal legislation on doctor-assisted death will be enacted on June 6th.
