38 more COVID-19 cases hit Manitoba

Manitoba Public Health announced 38 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, August 17, 2020, as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases stands at 731.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.78 per cent.

Since Friday there have been 134 additional cases reported in the province.

20 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, 12 new cases in the Southern Health region, one new case in the Interlake-Eastern Health region and five cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

The cases identified today include:

Interlake-Eastern Health region ONE CASE

  • One female in her 60s

Prairie Mountain Health Region 20 CASES

  • Three females and Two males under nine
  • Three females and one male between 10-19
  • One male in his 20s
  • Four males and four females in their 30s
  • Two males in their 40s

Southern Health Region. 12 CASES

  • One female in her 30s
  • One male in his 40s
  • Two females in their 50s
  • Two females and one male in their 60s
  • One female and one male in their 70s
  • One male and one female in their 90s

Winnipeg Health Region FIVE CASES

  • One male in their 20s
  • One female in their 40s
  • Two females and one male in their 50s

Public health says that several of the Prairie Mountain Health and Southern Health cases are linked to known clusters.

There are currently 232 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 490 people listed as recovered.

11 people are being treated in the hospital of which three are in intensive care.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 remains at nine.

1,716 laboratory tests were completed on Saturday. According to Manitoba Public Health the total number of completed tests since early February to 115,963.

Public health officials are advising of potential exposure to COVID-19 occurred Aug. 5 to 7 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 7-11 at 3360 Victoria St. in Brandon.
