36-year-old man facing break & enter and fraud charges

Winnipeg Police Service has arrested and charged a 36-year-old man in connection to a series of break-ins between March 5 and April 27, 2023.

According to police the accused would enter properties that had a door or window left insecure. Once inside the suspect would search for purses that contained credit and bank cards. Once in his possession the accused made more than $5,000 in fraudulent transactions.

Police say that the suspect broke into ten properties including:

  • First 100 block of Saphire Place
  • 1500 block of Pacific Avenue West
  • First 100 block of Pegasus Street
  • 600 block of Spruce Street x 2
  • 700 block of Valour Road x 2
  • 200 block of Victor Street
  • 100 block of Sovereign Cove x 2

On May 1, 2023, officers with the Property Crime Unit arrested Nelson Amiral Ferreira. He has been charged for his alleged involvement with six counts of Break & Enter Commit Theft, four counts of Break & Enter with Intent, five counts of Fraud Use of Credit Card, Theft Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with Curfew and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation.

Ferreira was detained in custody.
