324 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths reported

324 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday, October 4, 2021. This includes 121 cases on Saturday, Oct. 2, 120 cases on Sunday, Oct 3 and 83 cases today.

Two additional deaths were reported from Southern health. Both cases were men in their 70s and linked to an unspecified variant of concern.

The current COVID-19 test positivity rate is 3.7 per cent.

More than one third of the reported cases are from the Southern health region with 122 reported. 25 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 48 in the Northen health region, 42 in the Prairie Mountain health region and 87 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

Of the 83 cases identified in the province on Monday, 59 are in people who have not been fully vaccinated.

There are 814 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 98 people hospitalized. 18 Manitobans are being treated in intensive care units

2,403 lab tests were taken yesterday. That brings the total number of COVID-19 tests completed in the province since February 2020 to 1,014,483.

The total number of people who died from the virus in Manitoba is 1,213.

New public health orders take effect at 12:01 am Tuesday which will increase restrictions for those who remain unvaccinated. Expanded requirements for proof of vaccination and reduced gathering sizes are among the new restrictions.
