31 new cases in Winnipeg, 40 identified province-wide

Manitoba Public Health announced there were 40 new cases of the virus on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,993.

The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba is 2.0 per cent

Four cases in the Southern Health region, one case in the Northern Health region, two cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region, two cases in the Interlake-Eastern Health region and 31 cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

There are 13 people being treated in hospital including seven people in intensive care.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 20.

There are currently 599 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 509 of those in Winnipeg, 1,374 people are listed as recovered.

1,955 laboratory tests were completed yesterday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 184,491.

Glenlawn Collegiate in Winnipeg had a possible exposure on Friday, September 25. The exposure is assessed as low risk. Health officials do not believe the infection was acquired at the school.

Les enfants précieux child-care centre in Winnipeg was the site of a possible exposure on September 18. Public health noted that the infection is not believed to have been acquired at the child-care centre. The risk has been assessed as low.

There are two other sites of possible exposure to the virus in Manitoba being reported today.

La Roca located 155 Smith St., Winnipeg on  Sept. 26 from approximately 4 pm to 2 am and Pentecostal House of Prayer, Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation on  Sept. 27 from 1:30 to 5 pm

Public health is continuing to advise Winnipeg residents and visitors to the city to stay home if sick, wash your hands, cover your cough and physically distance when you are with people outside your household. If you cannot physically distance, you should wear a mask to help reduce your risk. Reduce the number of close contacts outside your household, and avoid closed-in or crowded spaces. 

Officials advise that only people showing symptoms of COVID-19 should go for testing. If you do have symptoms you should seek testing as soon as possible once symptoms appear.
