26 new cases of COVID-19 in Winnipeg, 34 overall

Manitoba Public Health announced there were 34 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,953.

The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba is 2.2 per cent

Five cases in the Southern Health region, one case in the Northern Health region, two cases in Prairie Mountain Health region and 26 cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

There are 14 people being treated in hospital including eight people in intensive care.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 20.

There are currently 606 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 502 of those in Winnipeg, 1,327 people are listed as recovered.

1,789 laboratory tests were completed yesterday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 182,536.

IQRA School in Winnipeg is the site of another possible exposure in an educational facility on September 23 and Sept 24. One cohort has been told to self-isolate and has moved to remote learning. Officials say the virus was not acquired at the school and the risk is low for those outside the cohort.

Lens Crafters at 1649 Kenaston Boulevard in Winnipeg was the site of possible exposure for more than a week. The dates and times are as follows:

Sept. 14 from to 7 p.m., Sept. 15 from noon to 7 p.m., Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Public health is continuing to advise Winnipeg residents and visitors to the city to stay home if sick, wash your hands, cover your cough and physically distance when you are with people outside your household. If you cannot physically distance, you should wear a mask to help reduce your risk. Reduce the number of close contacts outside your household, and avoid closed-in or crowded spaces. 

Officials advise that only people showing symptoms of COVID-19 should go for testing. If you do have symptoms you should seek testing as soon as possible once symptoms appear.
