Dauphin RCMP is investigating after a 25-year-old male walking along 5th Avenue was shot in his lower body around 11:30 pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021.

Police say the shots came from inside a home and they cordoned off the area until the suspect exited the residence and was placed in custody.

Investigators say that the suspect and victim are known to each other. No one else was injured during the incident.

The 18-year-old male suspect remains in custody and charges are pending say police.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Winnipeg with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate.
