25 cases reported Wednesday, one linked to Bethesda Place PCH outbreak

Manitoba Public Health announced 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,043.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 3.1 per cent.

Eight of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, seven new cases in the Southern Health region, nine cases in the Winnipeg Health region, one case in the Interlake-eastern Regional Health Authority.

One of the Southern Health cases is linked to the outbreak at Bethesda Place personal care home in Steinbach.

Eight people are reported being treated for the virus in hospital with one person currently in intensive care.

There are currently 408 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 622 people listed as recovered.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 13.

1,206 laboratory tests were completed on Tuesday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 129,409.

Public health also announced three potential exposure points to COVID-19. The first was on Aug. 18 and 19 at the GoodLife Fitness (1570-18th St.) in Brandon from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. on both days and the second was on Aug. 18 at the Coffee Culture Café and Eatery in Brandon (510-1st St.) from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The third exposure was on Aug. 11 and Aug. 14 to 17 at the Foxtail Café (Hwy. 10 and Victor Ave.) in Wasagaming.
