241 new COVID-19 cases identified as death toll climbs to 499

Manitoba Public Health is reporting that 241 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified today along with the deaths of nine people including:

  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Park Manor Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Fred Douglas Lodge;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
  • a female in her 90s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud region, linked to the outbreak at the Rest Haven Nursing Home.

The current provincial five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate at 13.6. In Winnipeg, the rate is 13. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is now 21,264.

Data from public health shows that of the cases identified today 10 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 23 from Northern health region, 12 from the Prairie Mountain Health region, 38 from Southern Health region and 158 from the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 5,791 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 14,974 people are reported to have recovered from the virus.

303 individuals are currently being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital of which 39 of those are in intensive care.

The total number of deaths from the virus has now risen to 499.

Yesterday 2,133 tests were completed bringing the total number of lab tests that have been completed since early February 2020, to 390,503.
