23 deaths in Manitoba over the weekend due to COVID-19

Manitoba has reported 536 new cases of COVID-19 for Monday along with 23 additional deaths reported over the weekend including nine on Saturday, Jan 22, 11 on Sunday, Jan 23 and three on Monday. The death toll is 1,515 in the province due to the virus.

Hospitalizations are also up with 716 people being treated for COVID-19 including 49 receiving treatment in ICU.

The provincial test positivity rate is at 33.3 per cent.

There are currently 38,691 active cases in Manitoba

1,985 lab tests were taken yesterday. That brings the total number of COVID-19 tests completed in the province since February 2020 to 1,366,587.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Winnipeg;
  • Meadowood Manor, Winnipeg;
  • Bethesda Regional Health Centre, medical ward, Steinbach;
  • Westman Nursing Home, Virden; and
  • Assiniboine Centre, Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon.
