    2,154 cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths reported on Monday

    2,154 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified today including 785 cases on Saturday, Dec. 25; 694 cases on Sunday, Dec. 26; and, 675 cases on Monday, Dec. 27. Public health officials are reporting eight deaths related to the virus today.

    The current provincial COVID-19 test positivity rate is 19 per cent provincially and 21.2 per cent in Winnipeg

    Of the cases identified in the province today, 87 are people who are not fully vaccinated and 588 of those who are fully vaccinated.

    There are 5,724 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 158 people are in hospital due to COVID-19 including 25 patients being treated in ICU.

    2,542 lab tests were taken yesterday. That brings the total number of COVID-19 tests completed in the province since February 2020 to 1,259,338.

    The total number of people who died from the virus in Manitoba is 1,378.

    The province is estimating that approximately 75 per cent of all cases of COVID-19 in the province are suspected to be the Omicron variant.

    Outbreaks have been declared at Kin Place personal care home in Oakbank; and Lodge 5 West at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg.
