21 new cases identified, possible exposure at fifth school

Manitoba Public Health announced there were 21 new cases of the virus on Monday, September 14, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,449.

The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba is 1.4 per cent

Three new cases in the Southern Health region, one case in the Interlake-Eastern Health region and 17 cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

One case reported on Sunday in the Northern health region has been reassigned to the Winnipeg health region.

There are 12 people being treated in hospital including three people in intensive care.

There are currently 257 active cases of COVID-19 in the province 1,176 people listed as recovered.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 16.

1,049 laboratory tests were completed on Sunday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 155,803.

Public health report that there is a possible exposure on Thursday September 10th to COVID-19 at Beaverlodge School on Rannock Avenue in Winnipeg. The individual was asymptomatic while at the school in both the morning and afternoon. Members of the cohort have been notified and additional cleaning has been performed on high-touch areas within the school. Officials say the student did not acquire the virus at the school.

This is the fifth case of an individual contracting the virus since schools reopened one week ago. Over the weekend public health announced cases from three additional schools, New Era School in Brandon, Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute and John Prichard school in Winnipeg.
