203 new cases identified, death toll climbs to 733

203 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the province today. It was also announced that seven more people have died from COVID-19.

Those who died from the virus have been identified as:

  • a male in his 50s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 60s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Deer Lodge Centre; and
  • a female in her 100s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Oakview Place Personal Care Home.

The five-day test positivity rate is 9.9 per cent provincially and 9.4 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 26,166.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • seven cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • 54 cases in the Northern health region
  • 38 cases in Prairie Mountain health region
  • 19 cases in the Southern health region
  • 85 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are currently 4,664 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 20,769 people who have been listed as recovered.

313 are being treated in the hospital of which 229 are considered infectious. 37 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 33 of them still considered infectious.

733 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

2,181 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 437,412 tests completed.

An outbreak has been declared at the Samaritan House Ministry Safe and Warm Shelter in Brandon.
