195 more employees recalled to work as city opens more services

The City of Winnipeg announced on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, that they will be recalling 195 employees from the Community Serviced Department as they prepare to reopen more city services.

The city said that in late July or early August they will be re-opening all library branches except for the Cornish Library which is undergoing renovations.

The re-opening of services within the library will be limited to holds pick-up service, telephone reference service, and to return borrowed library materials. The city plans to re-open other facilities within libraries in the coming weeks.

Cindy Klassen Recreation Centre and Pan Am Pool are set to reopen on a limited basis on Monday July 20, 2020. The facilities will operate with limited access to the fitness equipment, walking tracks, and pools. 

As with outdoor pools pre-registration will be required for the pool and fitness facilities. Pools will operate at reduced capacity and will have increased cleaning schedules.
