An 18-year-old male known to police has been arrested and charged with 9 counts of sexual assault as well as committing an indecent act stemming from a number of incidents that took place September 21 and 22, 2017.
Police say that the suspect grabbed a 33-year-old woman around 4:30 pm in the area of Logan Avenue and Princess Street last Thursday.
The next day Friday, September 22, 2017, police received several reports of women being groped while in the downtown of the city.
Investigators say that incidents on Friday happened within a one-hour period in the morning as follows:
7:30 a.m., a 17-year-old female was grabbed in the first 100 block of Borrowman Place.
7:50 a.m., a 24-year-old female was grabbed in the area of Portage Avenue and Maryland Street.
7:52 a.m., a 29-year-old female was grabbed in the area of Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street.
7:58 a.m., a 46-year-old female was grabbed in the 600 block of Portage Avenue.
8:00 a.m., a male was observed committing an incident act at a supermarket in the 600 block of Broadway. A 30-year-old female employee was also grabbed.
8:07 a.m., a 31-year-old female, in the company of her child, was grabbed in the area of Young Street and Broadway.
8:20 a.m., a 43-year-old female was grabbed at a business in the 500 block of Portage Avenue.
8:30 a.m., a 21-year-old female was grabbed in the 500 block of Portage Avenue.

The Sex Crimes Unit were able to identify the suspect through video surveillance and placed Tyrell Marquel Cornish under arrest at a home in the Springfield North area of Winnipeg for his alleged involvement.

Police say he has been detained in custody.
Investigators believe that it is likely that other victims may not have reported similar assaults.
