170 news cases of COVID-19 and one death identified

170 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the province today. Three cases were removed due to a data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 167. One death was reported due to the virus:

  • a male in his 70s from the Prairie Mountain Health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 5.6 per cent provincially and 5.5 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 36,159

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • seven cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 36 cases in the Northern health region;
  • 18 cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 13 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 96 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,688 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 33,512 people listed as recovered.

132 people are being treated in the hospital of which 61 are considered infectious. 33 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 16 of them still considered infectious.

959 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

2,346 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 622,343 tests completed.
