15,000 hay bales go up in flames in RM of Stanley

RCMP in Pembina Valley and the Office of the Fire commissioner are investigating the cause of a fire that consumed more that 15,000 hay bales and destroyed two large hay shacks on Thursday October 15, 2020.

Police say they were alerted to the blaze on Road 24 W in the RM of Stanley around 9:35 am.

Firefighters from multiple surrounding fire departments responded to contain the blaze. Emergency crews were still on scene on Friday, October 16 putting out hot spots.

Police say that the cause of the fire does not appear suspicious and no injuries were reported.

Damage estimates were not available but officials did say the financial loss is significant.
