Asylum seekers continue to flow into Manitoba

Manitoba RCMP report that since the beginning of 2017 they have intercepted 143 people illegally crossing into Manitoba near Emerson from the United States.

Between Wednesday February 22 and Monday February 27, 2017 RCMP have caught 39 people crossing illegally. Once caught the individuals were transported to Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) port at Emerson.

There is no information provided by police on the age or nationalities of those seeking refugee status.

For their part the CBSA have moved a trailer into the port to provide them extra space to deal with the refugee applicants.
