Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 14-year-old male in connection to several shootings that happened in less that 24 hours.
Around 2:30 am on Canada Day (July 1, 2020) a 44-year-old male was found on Balmoral Street after being hit by a vehicle. As the investigation unfolded police learned the male had been shot before being hit. He remains in critical condition in hospital
45 minutes lated a 27-year-old female and an 18-year-old male were shot in the 400 block of Flora Street. The female died at the scene, the male is in stable condition in hospital
On July 2, 2020, around 12:35 am a 40-year-old male was shot and a second male was stabbed several times near the “Winnipeg” sign at the Forks. The males were able to make their way to the Forks Market Building and find help. The shooting victim remains in stable condition in hospital.
Police say the a fourth previously unreported shooting may also have been related to the other three. It happened sometime between 2:30 and 3:15 am on July 1st in the 100 block of Isabel Street. In that case an unidentified female and male are believed to have been shot at.
Investigators wer able to identify a suspect and take him into custody around 4:00 pm on July 2, 2020 from North Kildonan. Police also recovered a firearm that was used in one of the incidents.
It is believed that none of the victims knew the shooter.

The accused has been charged with 12 offences for his alleged involvement including First Degree Murder, Attempt to Commit Murder Using a Firearm, Attempt to Commit Murder, Two counts of Aggravated Assault, Two counts of Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order, Three counts of Discharge a Firearm with Intent and Fail to Comply with Sentence.
The 14-year-old was detained in custody.
