135 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death announced

135 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the province today. One death was reported due to the virus:

  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 5.7 per cent provincially and 5.2 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 35,104.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • four cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 33 cases in the Northern health region;
  • nine cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 18 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 71 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,259 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 32,840 people listed as recovered.

141 people are being treated in the hospital of which 63 are considered infectious. 32 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 14 of them still considered infectious.

The total number of confirmed variants of concern cases of B.1.1.7 is 364 and B.1.351 is 20. 28 variants of concern cases have not been categorized bringing the total number of confirmed variant of concern cases to 412.

949 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province. Public health noted that due to a data correction, one death that had been reported earlier has been removed.

2,031 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 601,994 tests completed.

Outbreaks have been declared at Donwood Manor in Winnipeg and Boyne Lodge Personal Care Home in Carman.
