130 new cases and seven deaths reported

Manitoba Public Health announced today that there are 130 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province and seven more people have died.

Those who died from the virus have been identified as:

  • a female in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region; 
  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at Le Chalet de la Broquerie Assisted Living facility;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the River East Personal Care Home; 
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the River East Personal Care Home; and 
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Holy Family Personal Care Home.

The five-day test positivity rate is 10.7 per cent provincially and 11.5 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 25,374.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 17 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • 19 cases in the Northern health region
  • nine cases in Prairie Mountain health region
  • eight cases in the Southern health region
  • 77 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are currently 4,427 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 20,252 people who have been listed as recovered.

339 are being treated in the hospital of which 243 are considered infectious. 40 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 35 of them still considered infectious.

695 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,264 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 428,753 tests completed.

An outbreak has been declared at the WRS3 unit at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
