12 residents displaced after Langside Street apartment fire

A fire in a three-storey apartment building on Langside Street displaced 12 residents on Thursday evening, March 10, 2022.

Crews were called to the building at 8:38 pm after flames and smoke could be seen coming from one of the suites. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 9:50 pm.

Several residents were evacuated and were given shelter in a Winnipeg Transit bus that was brought to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters did evacuate several animals from the building and they were all reunited with their owners.

The fire was contained to one suite which suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage. adjacent suites also suffered smoke and water damage.

The City’s Emergency Social Services Unit was called in to help the displaced residents find temporary accommodations.

The case of the fire is under investigation.
